HP Recipe for Success

During the week, I attended the media launch of HP Recipe for Success in One World.

Many products were launched that afternoon, including the HP Workstation Z Series, HP ProBook, HP iPAQ Voice Messenger & Data Messenger, HP rPOS & HP Thin Client, and the HP dx2810 Special Edition. There was over an hour of tech talk at the launch, and for the non-tech savvy me, tech-jargon-overload hurts.

Below, Kevin Yap- Product Marketing Manager for Business Desktops, introduces the HP dx2810.

I particularly enjoyed Kevin Yap and Billy Tan's presentation.

The HP ProBook was introduced as being a 'presentable laptop'. As Phil Devlin (HP Product Marketing Manager) said, your laptop in which you use for business presentations should be as presentable as you. During the Round Robin, as I took a closer look at the ProBook, I was disappointed at the design for something that sells on 'present-ability'. While beauty is in the eye of the beholder, there is a certain general perception of what is presentable or impressive, and I doubt this falls into either. There may be a very powerful machine beneath it all, I can't tell (I'm tech-dumb), but if this is selling on presentation, its set to disappoint me at least.

That said, I was impressed with HP's move on environmental conservation, particularly on using up to 90% of recyclable materials and being up to 85% more energy efficient. I'm all for companies with an eco-friendly emphasis, and not just the ones that give you non-woven calico bags or donate to NGOs. So, I am glad to learn of HP's involvement in the eco-movement. However, looking into my press kit, I see 8 plastic kitchen place mats with HP products and logos printed on them, and I wondered...

more plastic?
