I just came back from a 5D/4N trip to Singapore. I was there simply to enjoy the company of much loved friends.
The first 2 nights I stayed at Syl and Ric Poh's comfy home in Clementi with their pooch-Ashley, and their hamster- Po (named after KungFu Panda). On the first day, Ric took the day off to pick me from Changi and brought me to all the uncommon places of Singapore with dear Ashley. To name a few, we went to Bukit Batok, Hay Diaries Goat Farm, Cemetries, and a bunch of other places. It was good for a light paced day, sparing me the crowd and enclosure of Singapore's shopping malls.
On the second night, Fannie and Kev Goh came to the home and a few heart warming and belly-deep laughs errupts...
Ric performs for us.
During the weekend of my stay, Syl and Ric's church was having an evangelistic rally, of which Ric was part of the choir. It was a great to watch him sing on stage- chest puffed up with child-like pride and a face so earnest and focused in getting all the notes right and loud. :)
As the couple sorts through their laundry, Ric decides to try something different.
Kev took the two videos above. Poor thing that guy was so tired after work and meetings till 9pm that night. I think if it wasn't for me being in Singapore, he would've gone back to rest.
The last two nights were spent with Aunty Lucy.
One of the reasons I was down in Singapore was because this was her 60th Birthday! The first one I am celebrating with her (I think). To celebrate, on her birthday eve we had one of the best steamboat at home, prepared by Lau Yi (Aunty Lucy's aunt). Her homemade belacan packs a punch, and its really good, so was the super thin cuts of beef and pork.
On her birthday (31 Aug), she had a little celebration at Traders Hotel with the ladies from her cell group, and a select few relatives, and me!
As I looked about the table, I noticed that they were all pretty close to twice my age and more!
That said, I don't find myself out of place, as I generally find it easier and more comfortable to chat up with older people, than with the younger 20-30s.
Being back in KL, people ask me How was your trip?, I say It was good, when what I really mean was It was absolutely flabbergastic!!
