Today at a Russ corner, a young 7 year old boy came by to where I was and picked up a Russ Peeper, held it up to his mum and went...
Mummy, look they have Peepers.I was very amused at this pair. The boy was so adorable, and as I listened to how his mum turned him down, I thought to myself:
Peepers? Is that what they're called?
Yea. Mummy can I have one please?
Sweetie, why would you want one? You already have three. Didn't you just have a black dog as well?
Ya, but mummy, can I have one? See, it's so nice.
Sweetie, you are already 7 years old, what are you going to do with that.
But mummy...
Sweetie, look you're right, I really think its very cute, but come on give it a kiss and say goodbye okay?
While it's crucial for children to learn some extent of deprivation, yet with that pleading voice, and polite demeanor, I would have caved in hands down to this young charmer. For those of you who don't know what Peepers are, you may have seen one of these around...

Yes, their signature huge two-tone eyes are infamous in our stores, and that's what makes a Peeper a Russ Peeper. :) And here I am, a 25-year old who reckons I could still use another one or another five Peepers! I already have my eye on one.
My fascination for Russ started young. I wasn't one of the many girls who grew up on Barbie dolls. I never had a single Barbie. Instead I was with Lego, bears, paddle cars, and bicycles. I grew up with boys and had a load of fun, and every night I tucked under the sheets with Russ. I no longer sleep with a Russ, but I still like them heaps. :)
