Chinese New Year has always been a freakishly hot time of the year in Malaysia. This year, no exception. When even the night air is hot, it's just way too hot!
With all this heat, it curbed an outgoing me of any desire to head out. After work, as soon as I could, I would head home to cool myself off in my air-conditioned room. That also meant that I haven't been going to the gym, eventhough the gym is air-conditioned. I've perspired so much through the day [from the heat] that the idea of perspiring [for whatever reason] was a huge turn-off.
Having voluntarily ground myself in my room for the past week, I finally decided to drag myself out for breakfast with some friends this morning.
Marvin and Aaron are a hilarious and entertaining pair. I invited Laine along as well. I'm so glad I got myself out of my air-conditioned room to spend the morning with these folks, because we had a really good time. I also intruduced them to eating kerak at Village Park. [FYI, kerak is the deep fried bits from their fried chicken, it's crispy, oily and loaded with the spices and marinades from the chicken.] Marvin seems to have taken a huge liking for it, and jokes went around. :D
I also spent sometime at Laine's place, catching up with her parents, and snuggling to her poodle, before hitting the gym. Today was great. :)
Muted by the hype for Chinese New Year, it seems like Valentines is passing by really quiet this year.
For me, it's just another nice day. :)
But come Wednesday, and I would join my aunt to visit one of her childhood family weekend hangouts- Morib Beach.
From the stories she and mum tells me, it seems like my late grandpa would take them kids to the beach almost every other weekend. This wednesday, we may do just that.
I love spending Chinese New Year in Malaysia!
